SciTech Labs was handsomely commissioned by the United States Military to design a revolutionary serum that would create the ultimate soldier. SciTech put its best scientists on the project and gave them a time limit to complete the job or else. With the pressure on and the stakes high, Vincent Masterson and his team put everything they had into the project. Everything was looking hopeful until an experiment went horribly wrong. The scientists mutated their specimen's DNA, turning it into something monstrous. Now, life as we know it will never be the same.
As it stands, the only thing that can save the human race is one of the two things they should be running from.

A pulse of light preceded the gift of life breathed into the coldest and darkest of souls. Bathed in the glow of celestial love and swathed in a blanket of black satin wings nestled a king among kings, a vampire born to destroy the decay threatening to eradicate the race he was destined to save.

An angelic heart torn by yearning, suffering and pain throbbed to the rhythm of the life he created; a life prophesied in the scriptures by the Creator’s own hand. A vow of servitude given in blood sealed the fate of a Seraphim's heart and tied it eternally to the creation he craves, protects…loves.

Ancient treaties are lost and reborn, rising from the ashes as the Nephilim ravage the vampire race. The deviant desire that soared in Malachi Denali's blood threatens to bring Rome to its knees when Malachi's world, his soul and his heart are brutally shattered and torn apart.

Will purity born of an angel's love be enough to calm the savage mind of Malachi Denali? Or will Laziel be doomed to a life of purgatory for loving the life he was gifted to create…

This is not a HEA, or even a HFN....Who knows what will happen to seal their fate...only time will tell. Vampires, angels, demons and wolves together with love, betrayal, sadness and yearning make up the ongoing story that is...

Wildfire - Review

Wildfire by Mina Khan
Blurb
Lynn Hana Alexander is a 25-year-old Japanese American shape-shifter haunted by guilt. She’s been questioning herself and her dragon abilities ever since she failed to save her grandmother.

When her best friend is threatened by mysterious fires burning up acres of West Texas, Lynn rushes to the rescue determined not to fail again. However, with a tempting firefighter, a flirty city developer and dragon pheromones distracting her, how is she going to find the arsonist?

And worse: is her primary suspect a malicious rogue dragon or the love of her life?

My Review
Even while Lynn struggles with guilt over her grandmothers death she jumps to help her friend when fire is threatening her. She is a shapeshifting dragon and while that helps her she still struggle to figure out who is behind the fires. She is having some troubles because she is tempted by a hot fireman and a smooth city developer. She has to keep her dragon hormones under control if she is going to help her friend. There is a mystery to solve and Lynn needs to take the time to get over her grief as well.

I really enjoyed this book as it's not the typical shifter book. For one the shifter is a dragon and there isn't a ton of that out there. Another thing is this book doesn't rely heavily on the romance. While it is there the mystery is more to this story to me anyways. Lynn is a wonderful character that will stay with you till the end. You really get to know her and what drives her. Her friend Jen is someone else I loved. She seems like a real person and as Lynn is helping her she is also helping Lynn cope with things. They make good friends as they seem to settle each other in ways. Jack and Henry both have great qualities but you are never sure whether they are the good guys or the bad ones until the end. The author does a great job with all of the characters. The mystery is one you get the more you read. I will say at one time I thought I know who did it only to be wrong. I kept turning pages to see if I was right. This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be the last as she does a phenomenal job with this book. Recommend for anyone who loves a book with dragons, mystery or just want a great story.

Violet Storm - Review

Violet Storm (Violet Night Trilogy #3)
by Lynn Rush
Blurb
The darkest hours reveal the purest of souls…

Emma Martin may have severed her mind-scrambling bloodlink by killing the vicious vampire, Seth, but he’s left his mark. When she starts to lose time and begins hearing strange voices, Emma fears she’s either going crazy, or something much darker has weaseled its way into her mind—and her soul.

Jake Cunningham’s greatest fears come to fruition when an ancient evil, able to change humans into vampires through his bite, comes for his fiancé, Emma. Jake’s faith is tested beyond human limits as he fights to save his soulmate from an eternity of darkness.
Love might not be enough to light the path back to one another.

***A portion of all proceeds donated to cancer research and treatment***

My Review
Emma and Jake have defeated Seth and are moving on with there lives. Things seem pretty calm with not many vampires around and they look forward to their future. Problems arise when Emma begins to hear voices and she doesn't remember several things. While Jake worries about an old bite that doesn't heal on Emma they aren't prepared for the evil that arises. It is one that will challenge everything about them and their friends. Will their love be enough to save them and their friends. They are in the battle of their lives in this book.

Emma is in love with Jake more than every. They have a few problems in this book. One being that she is finding it hard to wait for marriage. A few other reasons being that Jake's parents seem to have turned against her. They don't love her like they did. Emma also hides things from Jake and tries to hold back some things. She learns to grow in this book and see she needs him. I love how strong emotional as well as physical she is in this book. Jake is amazing as always. If Emma doesn't want him I will take him any day. He has to face trying his best to help Emma and at times being helpless.

I love and hated this book. I loved it because it is so wonderful and the author has done an amazing job wrapping up the series. I hate it because it is last in the series. So I have a good reason for hating lol. I really enjoyed seeing these characters grow so much in this book. Not just Emma and Jake but all the others we know and love along with some new ones. This book has some surprises and twist I didn't see coming that made it wonderful. Evil truly rises in this book and I at times worried about the outcome. If you haven't tried this series yet you really need to. It is a wonderful book with vampires and so much more. True love is a great thing in this book.

Inheritance:World of the Guardians Review

Inheritance: World of the Guardians by S.K. Whiteside
Blurb
“Talk about hell on earth…”

Sekhmet’s life was pretty good; you know for a goddess. Her job was simple – kill those that sought to go against the creator. It was a job she was good at but unfortunately got a little too carried away with when she almost single handedly wiped out mankind. For her penance she has spent the last thousand years serving as one of the Guardians; a group of immortals that protect mankind and led by the Goddess Isis – who kind of had her own anger issues.

The Azura, a league of immortal bad asses, are literally trying to bring hell on earth and with it, Set – the banished God and ruler of the Makhaut. For the first time in history and with the help of the Makhaut, they may actually pull it off. Even the Guardians are at a loss.

In the Hail Mary of all attempts to save the world Isis, now going by Isira, sends Sekhmet to New Orleans, to find and protect the “Key” but when it is determined that a traitor lies among the Guardians, Sekhmet, now going by the name of Syn, is forced to seek help in the most unlikely of places…her least favorite person and fellow Guardian…Malachi.

What’s a former Goddess to do?

Oh yeah, kick butt and take names.

My Review
Sekhmet is great at her job as a goddess. She punishes those that goes against the creator. When she goes to far she is made into a Guardian sent to protect mankind with other immortal under the eye of the goddess Isis. When the Azura set out to bring the world to hell and bring Makhaut free they are close to succeeding. It is up to Sekhmet and the other guardians to figure out how and stop it. Sekhmet now known as Sin is sent to find the Key and she will need the help of the one person she doesn't want around. She needs Malachi help as it seems there is a traitor in the mix.

Sin is a powerful guardian who walks a thin line of trying not to go to far. She is a kick ass female who is simply amazing. I love her character and want more of her. There is many characters in this book but another one that stood out to me was Echo. Love, love him! This book brings a refreshing modernization of Egyptian mythology. You see what they may be like if they where in this time period. You also get to see them in the past and how their actions effected their future. I loved diving into this world and all that went with it. I will say throwing in the vampires and werewolves and more was so awesome. I love it. You never know what will happen. I will say I did figure out the key before it was revealed but I was surprised at the ending that was a twist I didn't see coming. This author does a fantastic job creating a world you want more of. If you love mythology and want something new try this book.If you love paranormal books try this one. Basically try this book.

Except for the fact that he died in 1910…

Malyn Reed has been able to see spirits her entire life. Now that she’s almost seventeen, she has learned to differentiate between the living and the dead, making her gift feel less like an evil curse. Beau Brogan was a hard working country boy from Dandridge, Tennessee who loved his family and stole the hearts of many southern belles. But all of that came to a tragic halt at the age of nineteen when his life came to an untimely end. For the past hundred years, his spirit has been entombed in a ghostly life of loneliness and misery that he wishes would just end…until the Reeds move in.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Janae has been a writer since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Her genre of choice was poetry and short stories—until now. After falling in love with so many books over the past decade, she decided that she wanted to write a novel of her own and bring life to the characters that haunt her mind. It wasn't until 2012 that she pursued that passion and started on her first YA novel. 115,000 words later, For Always was born.

Having grown up in an historical Dandridge home that was used as slave quarters during the Civil War, she experienced several things that couldn't be explained. Due to these events, she sought out and joined an investigative team called Eyewitness Paranormal. Her interest in ghosts and the unexplained, combined with her love for telling a story, made writing the For Always series inevitable.

Janae was born and raised in East Tennessee, where she currently resides with her husband, two children, and their hairless dog, Slick. In her spare time, she likes to read, play tennis, and spend time with her family on the lake.

Author Bio
I’ve been coming up with stories for as long as I can remember, and in elementary school I began writing them all down. Ghosts and vampires, have always been my favorite beings to write about. Maybe it was growing up with a grandma who always told me about how she’d always rush home to watch Dark Shadows, and growing up reading and watching anything paranormal that I could find.

When I’m not spending time with the voices in my head, I work in business consulting and hang out with my husband and all of our furry family members.

Hi everyone! Our top ten is with Author V.L. Moon today. She has her top ten scary books/movies and a giveaway for you all. We will have her writing partner J.T. Cheyanne in a few days on the blog.

Blurb
A soul divided by race and hate due to his breeding, a bloodline born of angelic purity and driven by his vampire lust for blood, Tyrian is a half breed from a union forbidden and feared. He is rescued as an infant by a Guardian's guide, Daira, who stows him away safely hidden within a valley hidden from the depravity and misconceptions of man and shrouded by mists. In the valley far from humans and among others of different breeds, Tyrian learns that even in the sanctuary with the Guardians, Fate continues to rule his life.

Jaral, loyal Guardian and warrior of his race, accepts the duty of Tyrian's protection. Only, he crosses the forbidden barrier and falls in love with his ward. Although he fights his attraction and love for his charge, Jaral is unable to withstand the desire Tyrian stirs within him. Desperate to ensure Tyrian remains untainted, he faces his Elders and the punishment he is sure to receive.

As Tyrian’s and Jaral’s lives become perilously entwined only the bond of love and an eternity spent within the mist shrouded valley could keep their world from shattering apart. As Jaral's fate as a Guardian hangs in the balance, danger presents itself in the form of two vampires intent on Tyrian's death. Will Fate intervene and grant them a life in the Mists?

I don't really get frightened by books or movies but if I had to
choose ten that left a lasting impression then I guess it would be
these:

10 Stephen King: The Langoliers....Creepiest book ever.
9 Stephen King: IT ....Can't stand clowns now!
8 James Kahn: Poltergeist....Simply because it was the first
paranormal book I ever read. I never slept for days after reading
this.
7 James Herbert: The magic Cottage. Love the way this guy writes.
Makes sleeping at night impossible
6 Dean Koontz: Lightning. Absolutely addictive reading material.
5 Dean Koontz: The door to December.
4 Salem's Lott (Movie) I'll never forget that freakin vampire's
face. Scared the crap out of me for years.
3 Dark skies: Alien's *shivers* It's a great film with an OMG ending.
2 The Entity: I think it's the fact that this movie's supposed to be
based on actual events, but the scene where the manage to freeze the
entity that repeated rapes her just really freaked me out.
1 Amityville Horror. Book & Movie were both really scary.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
DC Hall is obsessed with argyle socks, the smell of books and believes he is the smartest person in the room. Granted he’s usually alone when he thinks this but it still feels good. When his nose isn’t stuck in a book, DC is usually writing or trying to teach his dog, Brooklyn, how to wash dishes (success remains elusive.) DC is from the south where the teas are sweet, distance is measured in minutes—not miles, and the skies are always Carolina blue.
